Deaths of woman and man who fell from car park 3 miles away ‘linked’ by police
A man and a woman’s bodies have been found three miles apart in deaths that cops are treating as “linked”.
Police said the man died after falling from city centre car park in Newport, south Wales, at around 4.40pm on Sunday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Officers then went to an address on Monnow Way, Bettws at 6.15pm on the same day, where a woman was found dead.
Her death is being treated as suspicious but police are not looking for anyone else in connection with it.
Gwent Police said they believed the two deaths were linked.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Officers went to an address in Monnow Way, Bettws, yesterday, Sunday 25th April, at about 6.15pm where a woman was found deceased.
“The death is being treated as suspicious. At this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the it.
“It’s being linked to another death yesterday afternoon.
“At around 4.40pm we also had a call reporting that a man had fallen from a car park in Newport city centre. The man was confirmed dead at the scene.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
A police car was parked outside an address on Monnow Way on Monday and local residents reported seeing forensics teams in the area late on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Welsh Ambulance said: “We were called to assist colleagues in the police at approximately 6.15pm yesterday, Sunday 25 April at an address in the Bettws area of Newport.
“We attended with two rapid response vehicles and one emergency ambulance.”
